Pavers Ltd was established in York by Catherine Paver in 1971. Cathie had always found shopping for shoes difficult as she could never find the shoes she wanted without having trouble over the fit. With the help of her family Cathie opened her own shoe shop in Scarborough, this proved to be a great success with similar shops following in York, Hull and Newcastle.
Pavers continued to open High Street stores throughout the North and in 1996 they opened their first Outlet store in North Shields. Although discount footwear retailers had been around for years, few offered the brands which Pavers Outlet stocked. This formula proved to be a great success and again many more stores followed.
Pavers continues to be family owned and run by Cathie’s sons. Their products can now be found on TV shopping channels and on their website www.shoe-shop.com (the largest online shoe-store in Europe.)
In 2008 Pavers now have over 70 shops around the UK and Ireland, and have recently opened Catherine House, a brand new multi million pound warehouse / head office based in York. The work on this 40,000 sq. ft. building began in October 2005 and was completed September 2006. With the ever increasing talks of being energy efficient, the building was designed with high spec external insulation panelling, an inflatable docking bay seal for goods in and out, rapid closing delivery doors, warehouse lifts, rainwater capture for flushing toilets, and energy efficient lights with sensors throughout the building.
An innovative company, Pavers continue to expand year on year, always looking for new opportunities and to increase their high level of quality products.
