A Guide to Wide-Fit Shoes at Pavers
29 April 2025
When your feet need a little more room to breathe, wide-fit shoes are the perfect way to give them the comfort they deserve. But finding the right pair can feel like a challenge, especially when you want to feel both supported and stylish. That’s where this guide comes in to explain the wonderful world of wide-fit shoes.
Whether you're new to the world of wider fitting shoes or looking to upgrade your current favourites, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know to find your perfect fit.
How to work out your wide-fit size
Finding your perfect wide-fit size isn’t just about length—it’s about width, shape, and how your feet feel in the shoe. The good news? It’s easier than you think, and once you know your size, you’ll open the door to a whole world of comfort and confidence.
Here's how to get started:
1. Measure Your Feet at Home
All you need is a piece of paper, a pen, and a ruler:
- Place the paper on a flat, hard floor.
- Stand on it (barefoot or in socks), and trace around your foot.
- Measure the length from the heel to the tip of your longest toe.
- Then measure the widest part across your foot (usually across the ball of the foot).
- For the most accurate measurement, it’s best to repeat with your other foot – if one foot measures more than the other, use this measurement for your wide-fit size.
Write down both your foot length and width in centimetres. Then, check a sizing chart that includes wide fit measurements to find the size that matches both. To keep things simple, we’ve grouped width fittings into three easy categories: Wide, Extra-Wide, and Ultra-Wide (our EasyFit range). Each step up adds about 5mm in width.
2. Know the Signs of a Proper Fit
Even with a good measurement, your feet will let you know if a shoe is the right fit. In a properly fitting wide shoe:
- Your toes should have room to wiggle—no cramping or curling.
- The widest part of your foot should sit comfortably in the widest part of the shoe.
- There should be no rubbing, pressure points, or red marks after wear.
- Your heel should feel secure, without slipping or squashing.
3. Look for Width Labels
Shoes often come with width indicators like:
- E – slightly wider than standard
- EE or 2E – wide fit
- EEE or 3E+ – extra wide fit - These vary a little between brands, but generally, the more E’s, the more width.

Can Wide-Fit Shoes Be Stylish? Absolutely.
Let’s debunk the myth right now: wide-fit shoes for women and men can absolutely be just as stylish—if not more so—than their standard counterparts. Gone are the days when wider shoes meant compromising on style or settling for something plain. Today, you’ll find wide-fit designs bursting with colour, personality, and all the little details that make a big difference, from sleek silhouettes to bold finishes.
In fact, when your shoes fit properly, they don't just feel better—they look better too. No more unsightly stretching, awkward bulges, or shoes that change shape as you move. Instead, you’ll enjoy smooth, flattering lines that highlight your personal style and show off your outfit beautifully. A good fit means your shoes work with you, enhancing your look rather than distracting from it.
