Discover the different widths
Explore our foot width fittings to find the one that feels right for your feet. Every fitting keeps the same length as your usual size. The difference is the room across the widest part of your foot.
Standard Fit
Standard fit is designed for a regular-width foot. It gives you a balanced fit, not too narrow, not too wide, with everyday comfort and support built in. If your shoes rarely feel tight across the widest part of your foot or loose around the heel, standard fit is likely the right choice for you.
Fit Tips:
- Suits most foot shapes
- Available across our full range of styles

Wide Fit
Wide fit shoes are made with more width across the joints of your big toe and little toe, the widest part of your foot, while keeping the same length as your usual size. If standard widths feel a bit tight, or you've been going up a size for more room, wide fit gives you comfort in your shoe size, with all the support and style you'd expect.
Fit Tips:
- A roomier fit across the forefoot
- Helps ease pressure for greater comfort
- Look out for the “Wide Fit” roundel on product images

Extra-Wide Fit
Extra-wide fit shoes are made with our widest fit across the forefoot, giving you maximum room where you need it most. If standard or wide fittings still feel close, extra-wide offers a more relaxed feel that helps ease pressure and keeps you comfortable all day long.
Fit Tips:
- Our roomiest fit across the forefoot
- Great for medical conditions such as swollen feet or bunions
- Look for the “Extra-Wide Fit” roundel on product images
Want extra-wide in every style? Every pair of our EasyFit range is extra-wide.

Why simply going up a size isn’t the answer
Going up a size adds length, not width, so your heel can slip while the shoe still pinches across the ball of your foot. It's better to stay in your usual size and choose a wider fit instead.
Same length, more room
A wide-fit shoe is the same length as a standard shoe in the same size, but it’s designed with extra room where you need it most. The additional width runs across the ball of the foot – from the joint of your big toe to the joint of your little toe, giving your feet more space without making the shoe feel too long.
How to measure your foot width
It only takes a couple of minutes, and it's the surest way to find your fit.
1. Wrap a soft tape measure around the widest part of your foot, across the joints at the base of your big toe and little toe.
2. Measure later in the day, when feet are at their largest.
3. Measure both feet and go by the larger measurement, then check it against our size guide below.
Men's width measurements differ slightly from women's, so be sure to check your fit against the right size guide.

Find your calf fit
Many of our long boots come in four calf widths and three foot widths, so you can choose the combination that suits you.
Foot width and calf width are two separate choices
If long boots feel tight at the top, pinch when you sit down, or won't zip up without a struggle, a wider calf fit could be the answer. A wide foot doesn't always mean a wide calf, and a standard foot can still need a roomier leg, so choose each one on its own.
Not sure of your calf size? Some of our long boots have a stretch panel at the back for a more flexible fit.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does wide fit mean?
Wide fit means a shoe is made with more room across the ball of your foot where your big toe joint and little toe joint are, while keeping the same length as your usual size. It's built on a wider last from the start, so you get extra space where you need it without the shoe feeling too long.
How do I know if I need wide fit shoes?
The best way to find out is to measure your foot width and check it against our size guide. If your measurement falls into our wide or extra-wide fitting, or your shoes often feel tight across the widest part of your foot even when the length is right, a wider fitting is worth trying.
What is the difference between wide fit and extra-wide fit?
Both keep the same length as your usual size. Wide fit gives you a little extra room across the ball of the foot and the toes, while extra-wide gives you more again, for feet that need the most space. Extra-wide is also a great choice if your feet tend to swell or you have bunions, as the extra room means less pressure and more comfort all day.
Should I go up a size if I have wide feet?
Going up a size adds length, not width, so your heel can slip while the shoe still pinches across the ball of your foot. It's better to stay in your usual size and choose a wider fit instead.
Are wide fit shoes longer than standard shoes?
No. A wide fit shoe is the same length as a standard shoe in the same size. The only difference is the extra room across the width of the foot.
How do I measure my foot width?
Measure around the widest part of your foot, across the joints at the base of your big toe and little toe. Measure both feet later in the day, when feet are at their largest, and go by the larger one. Refer to our size guide to find your exact width measurement.
Can I wear wide fit shoes if I don't have wide feet?
If your feet aren't wide, a wide fitting can feel loose, letting your foot move around and your heel slip. If standard shoes feel comfortable across the width, standard fit is usually the best choice. However, if you have a foot condition such as bunions or swelling, a wider fitting can give you the extra room you need to feel more comfortable, even if your feet aren't usually wide.
How do I know if I need wide calf boots?
If long boots feel tight at the top, pinch when you sit down, or won't zip up without a struggle, a wide calf fitting could be the answer. Calf width is a separate choice from foot width, so a wide foot doesn't always mean a wide calf.
How do I measure my calf for boots?
Sit with your feet flat on the floor and wrap a soft tape measure around the widest part of your calf. Measure both legs, use the larger measurement, and compare it with our calf fitting guide.
